Diamond in the Desert – Southwest Gas Field Development Project

Project Name: Southwest Gas Field Development (SWGFD) Project, Sonatrach, Algeria

Project Description: Executed the Southwest Gas Field Development (SWGFD) for Sonatrach, a first-of-its-kind modular onshore project located 1,200 km inside the Sahara Desert. The development connects three major natural gas fields — Hassi Ba Hamou (HBH), Hassi Tidjerane (HTJ), and Tinerkouk (TNK) with a combined processing capacity of 14 MMSCMD.

Despite extreme terrain, remoteness, and logistical constraints, delivered the project with exceptional safety, quality, and engineering precision.

Key Features & Highlights:

  • Three Central Processing Facilities (CPFs): slug catchers, gas dehydration, LP/HP compression, mercury removal, metering, GTGs, substations & control buildings
  • 14 MMSCMD processing capacity across remote desert locations
  • 750+ modules fabricated in India & shipped 9,000 km via Suez Canal: 1,200+ km inland transport
  • New 130+ km roads, secured camps, 300+ km fibre-optic connectivity, military-assisted logistics

SWGFD stands as a landmark in modular execution, desert infrastructure, and large-scale gas processing in challenging global environments.
